Version 0.9.9.2 Beta is a major refinement release focused on ingredient knowledge, clearer recipe analysis, improved optimizer behaviour, usability, and easier future updates.

A large part of this release is about making BMS not only calculate results, but also explain why those results occur and help users better understand the role of individual ingredients inside a recipe.

Automatic App Updates

BMS now includes a new automatic update system.

From version 0.9.9.2 onward, BMS can:

• automatically check whether a newer version is available
• download future updates directly inside BMS
• securely verify the downloaded installer before installation
• allow the user to choose when to install the update
• continue to support manual Check for Updates from the About section

Automatic update checks can also be enabled or disabled in Settings.

Updates are never installed without user confirmation.

Ingredient Functional Knowledge

The ingredient knowledge system has been significantly expanded.

BMS can now provide practical information about ingredients directly where you work with them, helping answer questions such as:

• What is this ingredient used for?
• What role can it perform in a mix?
• How can it influence dough behaviour?
• What happens during cooking and drying?
• What are its strengths and limitations?
• How does it compare with similar ingredients?

Ingredient knowledge is integrated across relevant areas including the Ingredient Catalog, Recipe Editor, Insights and Advisor.

Ingredient comparisons are also available where sufficient information exists, helping explain meaningful differences between similar raw materials instead of simply labelling one ingredient as “better”.

Clearer Recipe Analysis & Insights

Insights has received extensive work to make recipe analysis easier to understand.

Improvements include:

• clearer explanations of recipe metrics
• improved evidence and confidence information
• better visibility of the factors contributing to a result
• improved Why? explanations
• clearer presentation of Binding, Structure and Hardness
• improved explanations for Solubility, Leakage, Digestibility and Fat & Oil
• improved layout and text readability
• clearer distinction between Goal Profiles and Hookbait Target Profiles

The aim is to make it easier to understand not only what BMS calculated, but also why.

Optimizer & Advisor Improvements

Several areas of the optimization workflow have been refined.

• Fixed an issue where the selected Optimization Goal, such as Hardness, could return to None
• Improved the way optimization recommendations are explained
• Improved consideration of meaningful ingredient contributions
• Improved recommendation context so changes better respect the existing recipe
• Advisor explanations can now make better use of ingredient knowledge

The Apply Optimization workflow was also fully regression-tested and confirmed to correctly apply recipe changes.

Accuracy & Consistency Improvements

Several inconsistencies identified during beta testing have been corrected.

These include:

• corrected Egg Albumin Base Mix accounting
• improved WPC80 Binding recognition
• improved consistency between Fat & Oil analysis and Oil Load recommendations
• improved ingredient contribution handling
• improved ingredient identity preservation through recipe workflows
• additional compatibility improvements for existing and legacy ingredient identities

These changes improve consistency between what is shown in the Recipe Editor, Insights and recommendations.

Recipe Editor Improvements

The Recipe Editor has received additional usability refinements.

The new Functional Knowledge control now sits directly beside the Contribution selector.

This means selecting an ingredient no longer reduces the height of the recipe table.

The control also retains the familiar blue information icon and visible “Functional Knowledge” label, making the feature easy to find without taking space away from the recipe itself.

Price Intelligence Improvements

Price Intelligence continues to be refined based on real supplier websites.

Version 0.9.9.2 includes improvements to:

• supplier currency handling
• recognition of retailer price context
• URL and redirect safety
• product/package-size handling
• reliability when working with supplier product pages

Price Intelligence itself is not new in this release, but its reliability and safety have been improved.

Hookbait Knowledge

Functional Knowledge coverage has also been expanded for Hookbait Technology ingredients.

This helps explain the practical role of specialist ingredients used for pop-ups, wafters and hookbaits, while keeping ingredient knowledge separate from the recipe-specific performance analysis.

Ingredient Catalog

LactoLam 85:15 has been added as a dedicated ingredient with its own reference nutritional information and knowledge support.

Translation & Localization

Version 0.9.9.2 includes updated translations across all supported BMS languages:

English, German, Slovenian, Italian, Croatian, French, Spanish, Polish and Dutch.

The new update system, ingredient knowledge interfaces and other 0.9.9.2 improvements have been incorporated into the localization work.

Bug Fixes & Reliability

This release also includes numerous smaller fixes and reliability improvements based on beta-tester feedback, including:

• Optimization Goal selection now remains active correctly
• Recipe Editor layout improvements
• Insights text and interaction fixes
• ingredient identity and compatibility improvements
